Event Details
The interactive light show, known as Submergence comes to Bristol next week. After a stint at Burning Man Festival, the transformative pop-up suspended light show will be a main feature of The Square at Bristol’s Millennium Square. Launching on December 11th at 6pm, The Square is hosting a big switch-on event for those looking to be the first to see it. Attendees are welcome to interact with the lights and immerse themselves within the art piece creating a new space for children and adults to play during their festive night out at The Square. The light show is free to enter and will run from December 11th to 30th December.

Created by Squidsoup and funded by Pure Spaces, Submergence is a large, immersive, walkthrough experience that consist primarily of a large walkthrough array of individually controllable LEDs. The piece uses many thousands of individual points of suspended light to create feelings of presence and movement within physical space.

Visitors are encouraged to enter the piece as it’s best viewed from within. Ocean of Light installations transform physical space into a hybrid environment where virtual and physical worlds coincide.

Submergence creators Squidsoup is a digital arts group specialising in immersive interactive installations within physical 3D space. Their work combines sound, light, physical space and virtual worlds to produce immersive and emotive headspaces. They explore the modes and effects of interactivity, looking to make digital experiences where meaningful and creative interaction can occur.
