Join us on Friday morning in the Anglican Chapel for ‘Remains to be Seen’ – a talk about our relationship with human remains and why Carla Valentine advocates public display, interaction with the deceased and activities in graveyards to try and remove the stigma. This event is part of our Arts Council funded, Life, Death (& the Rest) festival, running 22nd-25th Feb.

Tickets £12

Carla Valentine is a qualified Anatomical Pathology Technologist (Mortuary Technician or ‘Mortician’) holding both the Certificate and Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology. She is the Technical Curator of a Victorian Pathology Museum, restoring the 5000 anatomical specimens to their former glory and teasing stories from the dead in a different way. She organises events to showcase the collection, teaches students at the Academy of Forensic Medical Sciences, and conserves anatomical specimens every day. She talks about the specimens on YouTube and to anyone who’ll listen, and has the enviable position of having one foot firmly planted in the future of Pathology, and one firmly in the past.

Kates Kitchen café will be open from 9.30am for coffee and breakfast before the talk starts at 10.30am. You are welcome to bring your coffee in a take-away cup to the event.

There will be limited parking on site for visitors. Please use public transport, walk, cycle or find an alternative way of getting here. If you are a Blue Badge holder please email in advance to reserve a parking space ( The local streets in Arnos Vale are for resident parking ONLY.
